ITS FINALLY OVER + thoughts and happenings


OH THANK GOD ITS OVER

It’s my christmas break and I thought that VeloxTurbo would be fine for me since I was bored anyways. I didn’t bother finding a team and went into it solo.  All the joy I had leading towards the jam was sapped out cause of the deadline AAAAA but IT WAS STILL SUPER FUN!!!

I texted my friend knowledgedomain about the several ideas that I had when the jam started, and she helped me settle on one. AND she gave me the idea of making the weapon a slingshot for comedic effect LMAO

I sent my friends so many voice messages over the past few days, all along the lines of:

“hHhhhhHHhhh i cant breathe” “i want to 哭了, i yearn to 死了”  “ahahaahahahHaaa kill me” “I am very 累了” “I am making iyak na”

My partner vc’d with me while I was working on the music, and they made me laugh so hard I thought I was gonna get nothing done HSNSHDBD then they fell asleep halfway through pfff (so cute). They helped me stay sane, whether they realised it or not, and I love them a lot for that<3

My strategy going forward was to rely on sound. If you’ve played the game already, you may have noticed that there aren’t any characters shown, nor are there any cgs. “BUT RICEEE WE WANT OUR BABYGIRLS!!!” You’ll just have to imagine the characters instead. Everyone in the game was voiced by me and my friends (heli, serin, and jeslyn). I knew that I wouldn’t have enough time if I were to develop this game AND get some sleeping done, so I decided to not draw any characters or cgs. To make up for it, I tried to include a lot of sfx and ambience for details such as sighing, gathering your items, walking, lighting a candle with matches etcetc! I also made 4 tracks under an hour and 15 minutes ish (and I made the main menu track last minute, along with the test sound and test voice right after coding everything) so I’m pretty proud of what I’ve accomplished so far at least!I knew that if I had a team I could accomplish much more, but I haven’t done a solo project in a long while, and I didn’t have time to look for a team either, so oh well HAHAAHAHAHSH

My strong point has always been in audio, because I’ve mainly composed music or voice acted for a few games that joined other game jams like OtomeJam, Sunofes, and Spooktober, so I wanted to use that to my advantage.


I don’t think I’ll be updating this game, since I want to focus on my upcoming project (The Bigible, if it rings a bell for anyone, esp the blooming panic community). I HAD SO MUCH FUN HOWEVER! I haven’t done any coding in a long while and this took me back to the time I was learning how to code my first game.


Nonetheless I’m super proud of what I’ve accomplished, even if it was hell LMAO
